Watched Maya Deren’s The Divine Horsemen last night, it’s super amazing. Don’t spend too much time watching the Youtube videos, put it on your Netflix list or get the DVD from Mystic Fire.

Just came across a couple of videos of “The Road Chief” that Mike Haley of 905 Tapes took last night in Philadelphia. While there check out the rest of his channel, he has some other great videos on there.

My friend Patrick has been posting some ripped tapes found at Goodwills and thrift stores from Medina, Ohio over on the Chondritic Sound boards. The Medina thrift stores are notorious for having the sweetest goods. For example, Telecult member Mister Matthews once picked up a bunch of Optigan disks at one, which he traded to Coil for some rarities. Disks he sent eventually wound up on Music to Play in the Dark 1 & 2 and a Blur record. Unfortunately Coil turned out to not be men of their words and never sent him his promised merchandise. So Sleazy, don’t be a Stevo and PAY MATTHEW WHAT YOU OWE HIM.

some REALLY ODD new-age religious musics… almost sounds like Quintana Roo at certain points… goes from talking about buddha to jesus to extraterrestrials, to all sorts of shit…

Pretty much the British / American version of the Aum Shinrikyo cult it seems, but i’m not too well versed on that type of thing.

this one is kind of incredible, and it truly is the weirdest tape i own.

the whole tape a woman talking about “4th and 5th dimensional light energies”, and how to tune into them through breathing and tai chi-style exercises. it’s worth listening to just for the section on side b where she compares the feeling of the light energies in your body to the plumping of a hot dog on the grill. A FUCKING HOT DOG.

here’s a tape i found a few years ago, simply entitled “Chanting Reiki Masters“. from a little bit of googling, it seems to be a simple and continuous recitation of Reiki symbols, though i am not sure what that is. what it sounds like is a continuous harmonic wall of sound… pretty incredible actually.

a small note about these tapes:

this and the previous tape are both kind of old, and look as though they were stored in a damp basement prior to me finding them a few years ago… there are certain parts on certain tracks which are distorted/crackly due to this decay, but i chose not to edit them out… and in the case of the Reiki tape at least, i find that it gives the overall sound an interesting touch.
